As a Doula, I : â€‹

  • Recognize birth as a key experience a mother will remember all her life.

  • Understand the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor. Specifically the importance of releasing fear.

  • Assist the mother in preparing for and carrying out her plans for birth.

  • Stay with the mother throughout the labor providing emotional support, physical comfort measures as well as helping the parents get the information needed to make informed decisions.

  • Facilitate communication between the laboring woman, her partner and her clinical care providers.

  • Perceive my role as nurturing and protecting the woman’s memory of the birth experience.

  • Allow the mothers partner to participate at their comfort level.

  • Provide support with breastfeeding and postpartum care.

My name is Rachelle Cameron

I am a Birth Doula, Body Ready Method Pro, and  a mother of four amazing  kids. I have a passion for all things birth and I love helping women navigate through pregnancy and birth and into their postpartum period. I know what it's like to feel afraid and not know what is happening to your body during pregnancy and birth. I want to help alleviate those fears and see you feel loved, empowered, and supported during this amazing time. I provide a calming presence, suggestions for labor progress, double hip squeeze, a shoulder to cry on. Encouraging words... Really anything you need. I am the calm, encouraging support who is there to explain what is happening or to just give you a big hug.  A birth where you feel loved, supported, and empowered is possible. Let's make it happen.

I acquired Rachelle’s doula services through the Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant for my second pregnancy and birth. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but found Rachelle to be very intuitive and great at navigating my needs. She always came prepared with materials and quick to respond to messages. Throughout this pregnancy I felt anxious and disorganized at times and Rachelle’s non judgemental attitude and calm and kind demeanour made me feel safe and at ease. Overall, I had a great experience having Rachelle as a doula and would highly recommend her services

Trina Davis

Rachelle was a calming presence for me during my pregnancy and labor. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to promoting physiologic  birth by means of  optimal  maternal/fetal positioning and non-pharmacologic pain control. She works well with other members of the hospital team and advocated for my needs and wishes. She provided us with a birth timeline, photos and a beautifully written letter to our new baby. These were so special to have. As a labor and delivery nurse, I highly recommend working with Rachelle. She has the experience and knowledge necessary to support you in your birth journey!

Rachelle was exactly what I needed for my second pregnancy! She is kind and attentive, has an absolute wealth of information and techniques for helping be as active and comfortable as possible both during pregnancy and during birth. I'm so incredibly thankful I had her with me during the birth because her reassurances, calm cheerleading and hip squeezes kept me going. There is a lot that I can say about Rachelle, but I'll keep this brief, I highly recommend her to everyone I know when I hear that they're expecting and looking for extra birth support!

Testimonials

My name is Noella and I am a mother to four children. I sought the help of a doula when I became aware I was pregnant with my fourth child. This was during a Global Pandemic and hospitals were only allowing your partners to attend the birth. The thought of this had worried me, as I was always use to having multiple support people attend my previous births.
I later found out that doulas are essential workers and were allowed to also accompany you during your labour process at the hospital.
When I first met Rachelle I knew then that she would be the perfect person to attend my labour and birth. She has such a calm and kind disposition, with her soft soothing voice. Each time we met I felt more and more comfortable and knew that she would be able to help remind me of what I wanted out of this birth experience. She also helped me discover what exactly I wanted/ didn’t in my labour process. She gave me the confidence I needed to help get

me through the tough parts of labour. In the end she helped make my last time every having baby a really great experience. Something I will always remember and cherish.
